Trusting God’s Provision and Purpose for Our Lives
Hey there! I wanted to talk to you about our New Year’s resolutions, our goals, and our promises to ourselves. You know, resolve to lose weight, save money, practice self-care, spend more time with family, and return to school, things like that.
How’s it going?
It’s 31 days into the year already, and if we’re being honest, we may have started and stopped on these aspirations a few times. It’s okay, don’t be hard on yourself. I don’t know about you, but I often find myself tempted to rush toward my goals at warp speed, almost like entering alternative hyperspace. Super inspired and motivated, I am guilty of fast-tracking outcomes and, perhaps, as some might say, ‘getting ahead of God.’ I have found the latter to be at the root of my false starts and subsequent halts. Because I can relate, I propose we try a new approach.
Consider this:
Unfolding Potential
Process transcends time, relying on careful preparation. In my experience, rushing, despite its temptation, cheats us on excellence and innovation. When we rush through the process, we often sacrifice our ingenuity. Why not, allow your potential to unfold, which is essential because it transforms any journey into a series of small, deliberate steps taken one at a time?
Reframe Your Thinking
Throughout my self-discovery journey, I set my intention to wait for God’s provision and pray for patience, allowing time to reframe my thinking. I no longer consider this a time of idleness but rather an opportunity for reflection and growth. I opt for a balanced approach rather than claiming the tortoise or the hare. Instead, I seek to flow like a river, knowing that I will eventually get there if I keep moving. Give it a try!
Don’t Sweat Things We Cannot Control
We can make the most of this time to solidify a strategy. Focus on learning and growing rather than becoming frustrated by things above our control. I encourage you to slow down and move deliberately. Pause to think things through. Let’s stretch our creativity and enjoy the journey by focusing on the things within our control.
Embrace Patience
While we wait, it’s vital to remain proactive and not worry about others perceived to be ahead of you. Instead, why not focus on your actions and efforts, maintaining momentum through learning, planning, and making choices that align with your beliefs, even when the outcome seems distant? Waiting opens greater possibilities. It allows us time to see the big picture and hear from God. Waiting allows us to develop resilience, strengthen our determination, and deepen our understanding of ourselves and our aspirations. God’s blessings are more abundant than anything we can think of or imagine.
Remain Steadfast
Hang in there, cling tightly to your convictions, and trust that what you believe will eventually manifest, even if it takes longer than expected. It’s about remaining steadfast, proactive, and patient, giving time for our deeply held beliefs to materialize into our lived reality.
Grow Into Your Power
Allowing power and influence to develop organically leads to a more genuine and lasting impact. Instead of forcing our way into positions of authority, we earn them through our authenticity, expertise, and positive effects. Organic growth does not imply that you shrink in presence or dim your light. Not at all! On the contrary, always stand up for yourself; however, make sure your authentic self is the driving force when you push.
We live in a world that respects power above all things. Power intelligently directed, can lead to more freedom. Unwisely directed, it can be a dreadful, destructive force.
Mary McLeod Bethune
Finally, in a world that often urges us to rush and compromise our values, the path to authentic power and influence lies in embracing patience, trusting the process, and allowing growth to happen organically. When we trust God’s timing and exercise patience, our beliefs will materialize in due season. Moreover, organic growth ensures our power and influence are not just substantial but also sustainable, leaving a lasting impact on the world.
